COVID-19: Frequently Asked Questions

Information Below Pertains to the Summer of 2020

The health, safety, and well-being of our students, instructors, and staff is our top priority. After careful consideration and comprehensive discussions with many who are deeply invested in the health and education of our students, we have decided that the most responsible course of action is to cancel all Pre-College Summer 2020 sessions. Unfortunately, the Program’s focus on providing a residential experience with hands-on courses does not make online learning a realistic or feasible option.

As a result, students that have already enrolled in a course will receive a full refund of any deposits or fees that have been paid, including the $45 application fee. As of May 12th, all refunds have been processed by the program.

We fully understand this is a pivotal time in your life as a student preparing for college and share in the deep disappointment that this decision brings. The University of Connecticut offers online courses during the summer which high school students can apply to through our Dual Enrollment Program.  If you are interested in exploring this option please reach out to our office for assistance.

We are also exploring ways we might be able to provide (free) remotely delivered experiences that would be of interest to our pre-college student community. In the coming weeks, we will share more information as details are developed.

Whether you choose to enroll in one of UConn’s online credit courses, come to Pre-College next summer or follow other paths, we sincerely hope that you will not let this change in plans deter you from pursuing your academic, social, and collegiate passions. Please see below for answers to some common questions related to this cancellation.
