Dramatic Arts: Theatre
Explorations of Acting & Playwriting
If you're the kind of person who loves to collaborate, create, improvise, and use your imagination then UConn's Pre-College Theatre program is perfect for you. During this 1-week course, students will have the opportunity to experience the intricate world of theatre firsthand. Our Dramatic Arts: Theatre course presents students with an insider's look into what makes a production click. This one-of-a-kind experience not only allows students to build skills and explore the many facets of the industry, but to grow as passionate collaborators.
- Acting: Students will participate in theater games and text work designed to strengthen their craft as actors. They will improvise, devise and perform short scenes with their peers in an environment that is supportive and fun.
- Playwriting: Students will learn the basics of structural analysis and write their own short scripts that will contain all the elements of storytelling structure.
- Backstage: Students will attend a professional musical theatre performance in Connecticut Repertory Theatre’s Nutmeg Summer Series and participate in a talkback with the professional actors. A backstage tour will be included.
Successful candidates are positive and disciplined team players who are ready to dive in and work together.
