Intro to Human Movement Science through Direct Examination, Simulation, and Dissection
This course focuses on the basis of functional movement, or how the muscular and skeletal systems function together so that you can stand up or walk. It is important to have an understanding of how these systems function if you want to be an athletic trainer, physical therapist, or an orthopedic surgeon. One way that you will learn about human movement is through direct examination, where you’ll be taught how to do a basic orthopedic examination looking at strength, bone health, muscle composition, and balance. We’ll also do high level computer simulations, where you will be able to explore the body in 3D. Lastly, we’ll use dissection as a hands-on experience to learn more about the anatomy of the body, where we’ll examine bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and cartilage.
