Exploration of Acting & Playwriting
Dramatic Arts is offered session 1.
During this 1-week course, participants will experience the intricate world of theatre, including an insider’s look into what makes a production click. Providing an opportunity to build skills, as well as, explore the many facets of the industry, this unique experience is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to grow.
Acting: Students will participate in theater games and text work designed to strengthen their craft as actors. They will improvise, devise and perform short scenes with their peers in an environment that is supportive and fun.
Playwriting: Students will learn the basics of structural analysis and write their own short scripts that will contain all the elements of storytelling structure.
Backstage: Students will attend a professional musical theatre performance in Connecticut Repertory Theatre’s Nutmeg Summer Series and participate in a talkback with the professional actors. A backstage tour will be included.
Successful candidates are positive and disciplined team players who are ready to dive in and collaborate.
